Einstein’s General Relativity – Kip Thorne

Kip Thorne is the Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at Caltech.

Quoting from the video description:

Einstein’s General Relativity, from 1905 to 2005: Warped Spacetime, Black Holes, Gravitational Waves, and the Accelerating Universe,” was presented as part of the Einstein Centennial Lecture Series and Earnest C. Watson Lecture Series at Caltech. Professor Thorne was introduced by Tom Tombrello, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Physics and Division Chair of Physics, Mathematics, and Astronomy.

Einstein’s fans are in for a treat as Prof. Kip Thorne takes them on a journey starting from his initial thought experiments and leading to the now well established General Theory of Relativity.

The lecture also serves as brief summary of  the theoretical developments in General Relativity as well as experimental search for its bewildering predictions. Prof. Thorne also introduces the now well known LIGO project and concludes with his expectations of what the future holds.

This lecture is part of Earnest C. Watson Lecture Series.
